His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum took a test ride on the Etihad Rail passenger train from Dubai to Fujairah, reviewing the UAE’s first national railway project set to launch in 2026. Connecting 11 cities, the train will travel at speeds up to 200 km/h and is expected to carry 36 million passengers annually by 2030. It will cut Abu Dhabi-Dubai travel to 57 minutes. The project supports sustainable transport, boosts tourism, and is part of a Dh50 billion plan to deliver Dh200 billion in economic benefits over 50 years through savings, improved access, and reduced road congestion.
