The Supreme Court has directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to release sterilised and vaccinated stray dogs back into their localities, except those infected with rabies or showing aggressive behaviour. A three-judge bench led by Justice Vikram Nath also prohibited public feeding of strays, ordering creation of designated feeding zones in every municipal ward. Animal lovers may adopt strays through the MCD. The Court has expanded the order nationwide, transferring all stray dog-related cases from high courts to itself to frame a national policy. State and UT authorities have been asked to submit inputs.
